About Hearthstone Supported Living

A 4-bedroom supported living home in Chelmsford where every resident is a tenant with their own private space, 24/7 staff support, and the freedom to live life on their terms.

Why We Started Hearthstone

Hearthstone Supported Living was founded with a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves to live in a place that truly feels like home — not a facility, not an institution, but a real house with their own bedroom, their own space, and the right support around them.

Too often, adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs are placed in environments that feel clinical and impersonal. We set out to change that by providing both the home and the support in one place.

Our home at 49 Noakes Avenue, Chelmsford is a 4-bedroom house where we provide the accommodation and the care. Each resident has their own private bedroom — their personal space — while sharing a kitchen, lounge, dining area, bathrooms, and garden. With 24/7 staff support including waking night cover, everything our residents need is right here.

We Provide the Home and the Support

Hearthstone provides everything — the accommodation and the care, all under one roof. Each person who lives with us has their own private bedroom and the security of their own tenancy agreement, so this is genuinely their home.

Our 4-bedroom house is designed to feel like any other family home on the street. Each resident has their own private bedroom — a space they can personalise, decorate, and make their own. The shared kitchen, lounge, dining area, and garden are communal spaces where friendships form naturally over mealtimes, TV, and time spent together.

Our Mission

To provide adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs with a genuine home and 24/7 person-centred support, empowering them to build the skills and confidence to live the life they choose.

The Values That Guide Everything We Do

Our values are not just words on a page. They shape every decision, every interaction, and every moment of care we provide.

Person in a supportive home environment

Dignity

Every resident has their own private bedroom in a home we provide. We uphold the inherent worth of every individual, ensuring their privacy, preferences, and personal boundaries are always honoured in their own home.

Community gardening activity

Independence

We believe in empowerment, not dependency. Our support focuses on building daily living skills -- cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and community access -- so that every person can achieve the greatest degree of independence possible.

Community activity and social inclusion

Inclusion

Everyone belongs. We actively support our residents to be part of their local Chelmsford community, build meaningful relationships, and access the same opportunities and activities as everyone else.

Professional care delivery

Quality

We never settle. With 7.5 full-time equivalent staff for just 4 residents, including 24/7 cover and waking night support, we continuously strive for excellence and hold ourselves to the highest professional standards.

Round-the-Clock, Person-Centred Care

Our residents receive continuous support from a dedicated team of 7.5 full-time equivalent staff -- for just 4 residents. This means genuinely personalised attention, not stretched resources.

During the day, we maintain a staffing ratio of approximately 1 staff member to every 2-3 residents. Overnight, a waking night staff member is always on-site and alert, ensuring safety and peace of mind around the clock.

Our support covers personal care, medication management, daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting, community access and activities, positive behaviour support, and health action plans tailored to each person.
